1…2…3

“A B C
It’s easy as, 1 2 3
As simple as, do re mi
A B C, 1 2 3
Baby, you and me girl”

12 years old Michael Jackson stated that “1…2…3” is an easy subject. How true the king of pop was! Thinking about numbers is basically an easy subject, especially in the online world; it’s easy as long as you know the logic to work with numbers and how to analyze it. Believe me, it’s not as scary as the math problems we encounter at schools [tough I've got to admit, it was one of my fearsome subject at that moment -- as I haven’t master the art of logic and analytic back then].

ABC

Numbers are everywhere. Let’s face it, all profession ranging from doctors, teachers or engineers, all have to deals with numbers. If you happen to be a marketer, then yes, you also have to deal with numbers. When deciding where to do media placement, what event to have, and when spending budget on online marketing plan. Whether you like it or not, it involves a great deal of numbers. From the budget to the ROI, when we think about it, it’s all in numbers. When you add, subtract or divide all those numbers and get caught up in the dizzying web of numbers, don’t go out the door and ignore those numbers, instead please remember the mantra of; logic and analytic power.

If you happen to choose marketing, it is triple the fun!  facebook, twitter, online games, messenger, email, cool website. Those things made numbers fun and add some kind of special appeal to it. And it’s not as difficult as this math equation “3^x + 4^x = 5^x”.   Really, if you just use logical thinking and your ability to analyze things, numbers when related with your online activity is much easier to explain and understand.

Let me share you a secret. Here are the simplest things you can do to start honing your logic and analytic skill;

  • Gather up all of the fact (this includes all the numbers you encounter and the category), line them up neatly in a spreadsheet or you can even use a white piece of paper. If you are an online addict, use mind map, it’s more fun. Me, sometimes I like the old fashioned paper and pencil ways (sorry tree).
  • With colored marker, mark the numbers and category you think is important to you or your clients.
  • Again, with colored marker make a connecting line between one fact to the other. One group of fact correlation will tell you about something. Keep making those groups.

Believe it or not, these three simple methods is the very basic on how you can do logical thinking and start analyzing your numbers. So whether it is 10.000.000 visitors or 10.000 visitors, the logic behind those visitors is what its count.  If you know the invisible line behind it all, those numbers would suddenly be as simple as do..re…me!
